where's the fire?!

This was a fun trip to Ponderosa. I had planned Tinfoil dinners and decided that we needed to enjoy them over a fire out in the fresh air. So we packed up and headed for Ponderosa. As we got closer and closer we realized that there was a lot more snow than we thought but we weren't concerned. The girls were excited to be out-and-about and the snow made it fun for them (for Mikayla at least). The ground was wet and muddy so Mikkel had to stay in the walker. She is close to walking but not quite there. We didn't want her to be crawling around out there in the snow. As soon as we got there Kris started working on the fire. Mikayla played in the snow, collected pine cones, and tried to climb a tree. Mikkel played with snow and ate marshmallows! It was getting dark and cold but still no fire. Now, Kris is a pro at building fires. Usually the problem is that he makes them too big but this time there was just no fire at all. I think between bad wood and a bad fire pit the fire just wasn't happening. An hour after Kris started working on the fire we decided that it was time to head home. We were all ready to eat and without a fire we couldn't eat anything except marshmallows. So, with our dinner still in the trunk of the car we headed home. As soon as we got home Kris headed to the backyard and with one match started a nice fire and we had dinner not long after. YUMMMY!!! I would have to say that tinfoil dinners are one of our favorite!
