We had a really fun time on our first camping trip of the year. We drove out to Montezuma Cave's and set up camp. We roasted hot dogs and corn-on-the-cob for dinner and then made smores with HUGE marshmallows. We had a nice spot that had lots of weeds on the ground that, once walked on, packed down to make a nice ground cover so that it wasn't as dusty and dirty. The girls slept on their cots with two sleeping bags each and Kris and I slept on the air ma tress with our HUGE sleeping bag that my parent's gave us a long time ago. Kris and I were toasty but the girls got a little cold. Mikayla ended up in our bag from about 4 AM on. Mikkel woke up saying she was cold and fell back asleep so I left her alone. We woke up and make oatmeal for breakfast and then ventured out to the Montezuma Cave's. It was quite a long walk up the dirt road to get to the mountain then it was a little hike up to the caves. We took the wrong path up because once we got to the top, we looked down and the caves were below us. It wasn't a big deal but we found a much easier path on the way back down. The girls loved playing in the caves. Mikkel was a little nervous and liked to stay at the mouth of the caves playing in the dirt making 'Sand Angles' while Mikayla and Kris adventured in a little farther. It was a lot of fun. We hiked back down, set our chairs up in the shade, drank cold water and milk and had a little snack before cleaning up and heading home. We can't wait to go on more adventures this summer. I'm really looking forward to Calf Creek!!!
